How does Key Matching work?

When you play two songs together in the app, STEM.FM can change the key of one song to help both songs sound better together.

To choose how this works, open the app and go to Settings (gear icon) → Audio. Scroll down to Key Matching.

You can choose one of the following options:

• Camelot: Moves the second song to the nearest compatible key using the Camelot system.
• Match Key: Moves the second song into the same key as the first song.
• Preserve: Keeps the second song in its original key.
• Off: STEM.FM does not choose a key adjustment.

Which option should I choose?

Choose Camelot when you want the songs to play in compatible keys without moving them into exactly the same key. The second track may play in a slightly different key from the first, but the two keys should still work well together.

Choose Match Key when you want the second track to play in the same key as the first.

Choose Preserve when you want the second track to stay in its original key.

Choose Off when you do not want STEM.FM to make a key adjustment.
