How do transition modes work?

What Are Transitions on STEM.FM?

Transitions control how songs move from one song to the next inside a session.

Inside your session, you can choose how STEM.FM plays through your songs.

You can choose whether you want to hear more of each song, a balanced mix, or shorter sections with faster changes.

How do I choose a transition mode?

   Open a session.

   Select the Transition menu near the top of the session.

   Choose one of the transition modes.

You can choose:

• Full Tracks
• Balanced Mix
• Short & Punchy

Full Tracks

Use Full Tracks when you want to hear more of each song.

STEM.FM plays longer sections before moving to the next song.

Balanced Mix

Use Balanced Mix when you want a steady mix.

STEM.FM plays part of each song, then moves into the next song at a balanced pace.

Short & Punchy

Use Short & Punchy when you want shorter sections and faster changes.

STEM.FM moves through the session more quickly.

What happens when I change transition mode?

The songs in your session stay the same.

The transition mode changes:

• how long each song plays
• when STEM.FM moves to the next song
• how quickly the session moves through the track list

Why did my song restart when I changed transition mode?

When you change transition mode, STEM.FM may restart the song from the point where that mode is meant to begin playback.

For example, if you switch from Balanced Mix to Short & Punchy, STEM.FM may move the song to the section where the shorter transition should start.

This helps the session play in the new transition mode.

Which transition mode should I choose?

Use Full Tracks when you want more of each song.

Use Balanced Mix when you want a steady mix.

Use Short & Punchy when you want faster changes and shorter sections.
