Claiming Your Music

If your music is on STEM.FM, you can claim it to start collecting royalties, including royalties already held for plays that happened before you claimed. Claims are made inside STEM.FM itself.

Start a claim

   Find your track

   Select Artist Compensation (the dollar-sign button) on a track row or in the player, then pick your track.

   Review its playtime

   The first screen shows the total listening time the track has accrued on STEM.FM.

   Confirm your ownership

   Enter the percentage of the master (recording) rights and the publishing rights you own, and whether your ownership is worldwide or limited to specific regions. You can claim either side or both.

   Identity verification uses a government-issued ID and is handled by Stripe Identity.

   Connect a payout account through Stripe so approved royalties can be transferred to you.

Evidence you can provide

You can attach up to 5 documents per claim, each a PDF, PNG, or JPG up to 25MB. Strong evidence includes:

• Copyright registration certificates
• Distribution agreements
• PRO (performing rights organisation) registrations
• Royalty statements
• Distributor dashboard screenshots
• Split sheets
• Release confirmations

How claims are reviewed

Claims are checked automatically against catalogue identifiers, ACRCloud audio fingerprinting, and the details in your documents. Clear matches are approved without manual review; anything ambiguous goes to a human reviewer. Adding stronger evidence to a pending claim can move it to approved.

When a claim is approved, your rights are registered, future royalties flow to you from the next monthly cycle, and royalties already held for the track are released for your share.

Good to know

• Ownership across all owners of a track cannot exceed 100% per rights type. Conflicting claims are held for review rather than paid twice.
• To change your percentages after approval, you resubmit the claim and it is reviewed again.
• A claim that is under dispute is locked until the dispute is resolved.
• A track removed by a takedown cannot be claimed while it is blocked.
