Takedowns, Counter-Notices, and Ownership Disputes

If you believe content on STEM.FM infringes your copyright, or you do not want your music on the platform, you can request its removal. If someone else has claimed a track you own, you can dispute their claim.

Request a takedown

Email takedowns@stemplayer.com with the following:

• Your name and electronic or physical signature
• Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is being infringed
• Identification of the material on STEM.FM that infringes it, including a link or track ID
• Your contact information (address, phone number, email)
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf

What a takedown does

• The track is blocked from playback and removed from delivery.
• The block covers every copy of the same recording on the platform, including user uploads matched to it by audio fingerprint and copies added later.
• The track stops generating royalties. Revenue attributed to it while blocked is held, not paid out.
• A blocked track cannot be claimed.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, email takedowns@stemplayer.com with:

• Your name and electronic or physical signature
• Identification of the material that was removed and its location on STEM.FM
• A statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
• Your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district

An accepted counter-notice restores the track. Revenue held during the block is reviewed as part of the restoration; contact us if you believe you are owed held royalties.

Dispute someone else’s claim

If a track you own has been claimed by someone else, contact takedowns@stemplayer.com with your evidence. Disputes can be raised against approved claims for competing ownership, copyright infringement, or fraud, and you will be asked to verify your identity before a dispute is opened.

• While a dispute is open, the disputed share of royalties is held rather than paid to either party.
• If the dispute is upheld, the claim is revoked. For ownership disputes you can then register your own claim; for infringement the track is blocked.
• If the dispute is dismissed, the original claim is restored and payments resume.
