What can I publish on STEM.FM?
Understand the publishing rules, ownership requirements, and how royalties work when you publish music on STEM.FM.

On STEM.FM you are allowed to upload and publish your work if you own or have permission to use every part of it (a song you wrote and recorded yourself is one example).
In most cases, you will need rights or permission covering:
- the sound recording
- the music and lyrics
- any samples, beats, instrumentals
Can I publish a mix made with my music and a track available on STEM.FM?
No. You cannot publish a recording of a mix that includes a track from the STEM.FM catalogue.
You can use catalogue tracks inside a STEM.FM session, however access does not include permission to publish a new recording containing those tracks.
You may only publish the mix if you separately own or have permission to publish every track included in it.
What happens after I publish my music?
Publishing makes your music available to other STEM.FM users and also allows you to earn from it.
Other users can:
- listen to your music
- add it to their sessions
- play it alongside other tracks
- create mixes with it inside STEM.FM
When your music plays alongside another track, STEM.FM divides the listening time between both tracks.
For example, if both tracks play for the same amount of time, each track receives 50% of the listening time. Each rights holder is paid for their share.
Can I remove published music?
Yes. You can remove a published song or published stem files from STEM.FM.
